Hole 1: - A great way to start your game with a generous width fairway to the 358 yard first hole. At the first, with its well guarded approach and 2 tiered green with subtle borrows, you will get a hint of what to expect over the next 17 holes.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; before teeing off, look to see where the flag is on the green. If it is to the right then your tee shot should be directed down the left to open the green for a simpler wedge in. Hint for the high handicapper; avoid the bunker on the right and ignore the flag position for your shot to the green which should be between the 2 bunkers.

Hole 2 - A slight dogleg to the left to a two tiered green and again well guarded by bunkers. Take a careful look at the tree by the cross bunker 45 yards from the green. Avoid driving too long down the right if you don’t want to be blocked out by this tall mature oak.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; consider not taking your driver here. A shot too long could land you in the cross bunker or blocked out by the tree. Hint for the high handicapper; avoid the line of trees on the left. Any ball hitting these trees is likely to end in the ditch (see yellow posts). A drive, right of centre and the ball will be very well placed on the fairway.

Hole 3 - A right to left sloping fairway and in the spring, a feast of bluebells in the trees on the left. The approach shot is to a sunken green will give you choices. Your options are to use the down slope at the front of the green to take you ball to the hole or throw the ball up high to land on the green? The wrong choice could see your ball gathered into the bunker on the left of the green or rolling off the back down amongst the trees.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; aim at the bunker on the right. The ball will be taken to the centre of the fairway by the slope. Hint for the high handicapper; drive down the right hand side of the fairway, not only will the slope bring the ball to the middle of the fairway you will avoid the tough rough on the left.

Hole 4 - At 474 yards this was, in earlier years, the maximum length for a par 4 for men, par 5 for ladies. Again a generous fairway so hitting this is always a good start to this hole. The two tiered green is only protected by a single bunker on the right. However this bunker will gather any ball not hit purposefully at the green as the last 100 yards of fairway slope left to right. You really should congratulate yourself if you leave this hole with a par.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; Open your shoulders and let it rip! Hint for the high handicapper; treat this as a par plus 1 and be happy with a bogey.

Hole 5 - A short par 4 with the green hidden from the tee by a well placed hedge. This slight left to right dogleg has a two tiered green protected by 4 bunkers. The tee shot should be positioned towards the left to enable more access to the various pin positions. A tempting hole for long hitters but are the risks worth it?
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; here ball placement is more important than length and your second shot will only be a wedge. Hint for the high handicapper; drive left of the hedge, avoiding the rough and trees that lay beyond.

Hole 6 - This par 3 could reward a good shot to the green with a birdie opportunity. Once on the green, observe the subtle undulations that can provide large swings on the putting surface. However, miss the green and getting a par could be difficult.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; what you see is what you get but remember the green slopes left to right when taking aim. Hint for the high handicapper; a wayward shot here will be heavily punished. Give a lot of thought to making a straight hit long enough to get you past the rough.

Hole 7 - At stroke index 5 the seventh is a good test for all club golfers. The sloping fairway must be taken into account when deciding where to aim your tee shot. The gorse bushes on the right are a good target from the tee. The fairway bunker on the left is one the long hitter needs to watch out for but everyone should be wary of the greenside bunker on the left that will gather the short approach shot.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; taking a driver may not be your best option. Laying up with a 3 wood or long iron may be a better proposition. Hint for the high handicapper; aim towards the gorse allowing the slope to bring the ball back to the middle of the fairway but avoid going too far right into the trees.

Hole 8 - A hole that looks benign from the tee but be aware! The fairway deceptively slopes right to left making a tee shot down the right avoiding the bunker your best option. A tee shot going left will leave you a tricky second shot. Only when you are half way down the fairway will you see the large dip on the left about 170 yards from the green. Your approach shot can either be directed just to the left of the mound by the green allowing your ball to roll down the slope towards the hole or high shot to land on the green and stop.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; drive down the right hand side past the fairway bunker and your shot to the green is made a lot easier. Hint for the high handicapper; Coming off with a bogey is a good score on this stroke index 3 hole. Keep the drive and approach shot towards the right hand side and aim for the mound with your shot to the green, allowing the ball to run onto the green.

Hole 9 - The longest of the two Par 5s with the green to the left of the conical pine in the distance. A reasonably wide fairway but surprising how many golfers end up in the trees on the right hand side. If you do it isn’t easy to make any distance with your 2nd shot, so straight or slightly left is preferable.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; for the big hitters this is reachable with 2 good shots. Hint for the high handicapper; A simple hole if you stay out of trouble and a par a possibility. Just 3 don’ts; don’t go into the trees, don’t go into the rough and don’t go into the green-side bunkers – simples

Hole 10 - Fairly straight forward Par 3 at 151 yards from the White Tees but don't be complacent as there are five bunkers protecting the green. One of the flatter greens on the course but with some subtle borrows.
Pro's TipHint for the low and high handicapper; avoid the bunkers!

Hole 11 - A demanding par 4 hole (par 5 for Ladies) – another hole if should you get a par then congratulate yourself. There is plenty of room to play down the left thus avoiding the fairway bunkers that await your drive. The good sized green that slopes away awaits you.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; a draw over the right hand bunker or straight over the left hand bunker will leave you a reachable green. Hint for the high handicapper; Drive left of the bunkers and stay down the left hand side of the fairway to avoid further hazards. A bogey is a good score on this long par 4.

Hole 12 - At stroke index 18 you would expect an easy par or better but with out of bounds on the left and the greenside bunker making the approach shot difficult to judge, possibly not that easy. Look at the diagram and note all the bunkers. Interesting green and it has some difficult pin positions especially if there is a red flag (hole at the front of the green).
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; a good drive down the left will give you a complete view of the green and a simple wedge to the flag. Hint for the high handicapper; Drive down the centre of the fairway avoiding the hazards. Be careful with your approach shot as the green is long but not that wide.

Hole 13 - A deceptive 145 yard par 3, this hole plays a little longer than the yardage suggests as it is all carry to the elevated green. A mis-directed shot could land you in one of the 3 surrounding bunkers or in the dip in front of the green. Getting par is a good reward for a straight shot from the tee.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; a good tee shot to the green will give you a birdie opportunity. Hint for the high handicapper; Take one more club than you think you need. Putting back to the hole is easier than other places you might find yourself.

Hole 14 - A severe, almost at 90 degrees, left to right dogleg providing a real challenge for all golfers. A drive that is too long or too short, too left or too right can leave a difficult shot to the green. Once on the green your problems don’t go away as there is a ridge down the left hand side that can throw your seemingly accurate putt off course.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; this is a good hole if you can hit a high draw over the trees beyond the 150 yard marker. Hint for the high handicapper; your tee shot should be to the left of the corner of the dogleg. The fairway slopes slightly left to right taking your ball towards the 150 yard marker.

Hole 15 - After the trials of the 14th , have a rest with this attractive looking par 4 golf hole. Just miss the bunker with your drive, making sure you don’t over compensate and go into the trees on the right. Your shot to the green is simple – go between the bunkers and onto the green for your par.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; a good drive down the fairway is rewarded with a simple shot to the green. An errant shot, right or left, could leave you negotiating with the trees. Hint for the high handicapper; this is a slight right to left hole, with the first part facing right. A reasonable drive can reach the tree line down the right side of the fairway. A less well struck tee shot will leave you in the dip and a long way from the green. Just left of the bunker is perfect.

Hole 16 - This is a challenging par 3 with the green sloping away from you which is protected by a deep greenside bunker on the right and a long bunker on the left, just waiting to catch the errant shot.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; a good long or mid-iron shot will get you to the green. Hint for the high handicapper; make sure you have enough club in your hand to get there and avoid the right hand bunker. It has a high face and one of the harder green-side bunkers on the course.

Hole 17 - The easier of the Par 5's and provides the best opportunity on the course for a birdie. However if you are unlucky to get into either of the first 2 bunkers you should settle for just getting out as they have very high faces and distance isn’t easy to achieve. The hole is fairly straight forward with the only significant danger is missing the green to the right.
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; your best chance for a birdie or better. While it is over 320 yards away the cross bunker 150 yards from the green is a good target (unless of course you can hit further!). Hint for the high handicapper; the first two bunkers are to be avoided at all costs. They are high faced and it will cost you a shot to get out of them with little opportunity of advancing the ball very far. Closer to the hole, avoid the 3 trees on the left. If you get behind these is makes for a very difficult shot to the green.

Hole 18 - An excellent but not easy closing hole at 424 yards from the White Tees. The green is well guarded by 2 bunkers and if you overshoot the green - the car park, Clubhouse and Out of Bounds awaits!
Pro's TipHint for the low handicapper; a good drive is needed on this longish par 4. Distance control for your shot to the green is needed if your ball is to stay on the green. Anything over or under hit will give you problems. Hint for the high handicapper; think of this as a short par 5 and you won’t be disappointed.
